Announcing Accepted Interactive Panels on September 20

SleddMary_FromTrollsToStars-inside4.jpgSeptember is here — and with it, news from the Interactive programming front. Because we know you are eager to see the lineup of programming for SXSW Interactive 2011, we decided to release panels information earlier than ever this season. On Monday, September 20, we will release a list of the first 200 accepted titles for the 2011 event via the SXSW website.

This year, there will be no email notifications before the September 20 release date of the status of PanelPicker proposals, but organizers will receive an email on the day of the announcement detailing next steps for a successful presentation. This announcement will represent about one-third of our total programming for the 2011 season.

HuddleHub Goes Deep on Late Night

sxsw2_0.jpgThere are any number of ways to cash in on a presence at SXSW. One of the newest and most innovative? Apparently, it's to be at the receiving end of a joke.

HuddleHub, a SXSW Trade Show exhibitor in 2010, is an interface that allows sports fans to manage all of their fantasy sports in one place, even if their teams happen to traverse numerous different sites. This unique concept caught the attention of Late Night's own Jimmy Fallon. "There's a new program called 'HuddleHub' that manages all of your fantasy sports teams. They call it the perfect solution for someone who's too lazy to keep track of being too lazy to play actual sports."

One Trade Show to Rule Them All

fits_ra21_lighter.jpgWe've created a better way to network and do business while at SXSW: an expanded four-day SXSW Trade Show. The SXSW Trade Show takes place March 14 - 17, 2011 in the Austin Convention Center and is a large component of the daytime festival programming, taking place alongside panel sessions and keynote speeches.

This revamped concept means that admission is now open to all SXSW badge holders and all SXSW Showcasing artist wristbands. Why did we decide to make this move? SXSW provides the kind of one-on-one access to leaders in the music, film, and interactive industries you can't find at any other event. SXSW has always been about what happens when you bring the technology, music, and film industries together here in the heart of Texas. The SXSW Trade Show is an ideal opportunity to expand your client or user base by engaging on a broader level.

SXSW PanelPicker Trending Lists

SXSW2011PanelPicker_VOTE_K.pngThe SXSW PanelPicker gives us insight into industry trends and lets us know what our engaged community is talking about today. To track this information and stay up-to-date on what's happening with the PanelPicker, this week we launched the new PanelPicker Trending feature. Find a link to SXSW's three events on the front page of the PanelPicker here.

Because SXSW programming is a curated process, with staff and the Advisory Board contributing input on which proposals are ultimately chosen, the PanelPicker is definitely not a popularity contest. However, votes from the PanelPicker do make up 30% of the final score, so it's still one important way to gauge interest in a particular topic or discussion. See what's trending now for SXSW Interactive and don't forget that PanelPicker voting ends at 11:59 CT on Friday, August 27.

Make sure you don't miss all the great 2011 programming by registering to attend SXSW today!
