SXSW 101: What is SXSW?
We know SXSW is a large and sometimes daunting event - with so much activity going on, it can be hard to really experience everything the event has to offer. That's why we created SXSW101. Featuring pertinent SXSW information for both newcomers and veterans, SXSW 101 will regularly answer frequently asked questions and highlight helpful aspects of the SXSW website to help you make the most of the event. For our first installment, we'll be answering one of our most frequently asked questions, "What is SXSW?"
Think of South by Southwest (SXSW) as a nine-day marketplace of ideas, relationships, and products for the Music, Interactive Media, and Film industries. Each discipline has a featured conference (panels, keynotes, and interviews) and a trade show. In addition there's the Music festival (1,800+ artists at more than 80 venues), the Film festival (250+ films in 6 venues), and an Interactive festival (200+ sessions with ScreenBurn Arcade and great networking events).
